Gleb, intoxicated creator of the universe

Gleb breathed slowly and tried to remember that there was solid ground underneath his feet. He knew that this was important due to the sometimes nagging feeling that his consciousness was the framework of the world around him. It was evident that the world was shaped around his own mental state due to the fact that when he closed his eyes the world disappeared. He knew this was magical thinking but was not awake enough to actually stop him from thinking it.

The walk to the convenience store while under the influence of sleep inducing, sinus relieving diphenhydramine, was difficult. In truth, Gleb was having a hard time walking in a straight line. If he could do so with his eyes open it would greatly increase his chances of not falling down and also stabilize the world around him. If he could just keep walking until coffee, until the gas station’s warm Punjabi sounding accent was behind him, then Gleb would be golden.

As he past Sarah, through the doorway into the gas station, he noticed she had her eyelids taped open. She always was a clever girl.

A great little story. I can totally appreciate Gleb’s concerns.
