The Succubus

She takes his soul but she can’t really help it. It isn’t something you ever mean to do, it just happens. He moves in her and she sticks her tongue down his throat. He catches something in her eye: that spark of the divine we all apparently have. He gets focused in on it and he reaches in her deep, and loses himself in her wonder. As he finally relents, he’s left less than before he came.

He sort of sits still for a while, empty of all feeling. Then he looks at her and it grows, it swells with the beating of his heart. In the coming days he’s back and fully alive, even thankful for the little death. A renewed man, George comes back to Ellen.

If your soul should leave you or if it should die, take heart in the knowledge that these things have a tendency of coming back.
